Get disabled children back to school
Get disabled children back to school
Thanks to ASPIRE and our kind donors, so far we have donated more than 50 pairs of crutches and 6 wheelchairs. But there are still more than 200 disabled children on our register waiting for crutches and 24 waiting for wheelchairs.
DEMSL started a child education and sponsorship program in 2020.
Every semester, DEMSL beneficiaries receive uniforms, shoes, books and other supplies to enable them to attend school. To make this possible, we rely on our 1:1 sponsors. 1:1 child sponsorship is a way of giving that connects a caring person like you directly with one child in need in Sierra Leone. This connection gives the child their best chance to grow healthy, educated, and safe.
Thanks to AYSO Brooklyn for the sports donations to the Single Leg Amputee Soccer Association (SLASA). The Single Leg Amputee is receiving donations we are still looking for more sports kits for our players. If you have sports equipment you would like to donate please contact us.
DEMSL is currently looking for a carehome in Freetown, Sierra Leone for 20 high-need children. The children are between the ages of 10 and 15. They include orphans of Ebola, children with disabilities and street children who currently do not have access to education, healthcare and sanitary living conditions. Help us to make this dream real.
The National Rehabilitation Center (NPR&C) in Freetown serves disabled people across Sierra Leone and neighboring Guinea. The staff provide physical therapy and prosthetic treatment for patients in need. We are developing a skills transfer and support program through professional prosthetic support centers in the US.
